The staff were amazing, nothing was ever too much trouble and they always went above and beyond to accommodate our needs, we stayed with our dog Freddie the miniature Daschund who captured the hearts of staff and other guests, the doggy welcome pack was perfect and he especially enjoyed the treats and the fuss! The food was excellent, bed was comfortable, room was cleaned daily and we couldn't fault the standard of cleanliness, the view from our room was absolutely stunning, we'd love to come back and stay again, thank you to all the staff members who made our experience so wonderful ❤️

Merewood Country House Hotel offers a truly charming experience, set in a stunning, picturesque location. The aesthetic of the property is absolutely delightful, with its beautiful surroundings, making it feel like a hidden gem. It felt almost like embarking on a treasure hunt, as there were so many cozy spots and unique corners to discover within the hotel itself. The breakfast was top-notch, offering a variety of fresh, delicious options to start the day. Whether you’re a fan of traditional English breakfasts or lighter fare, they had something for everyone. The location is also ideal, with the hotel being close to the lake and various attractions, making it perfect for those looking to explore the natural beauty of the area. What’s impressive is that there doesn’t seem to be a negative review in sight, which is a testament to the consistent quality of the experience offered. Overall, if you’re looking for a peaceful retreat with excellent amenities and close proximity to local attractions, Merewood Country House Hotel is a perfect choice.

Great location and fabulous view of the lake in our room. Afternoon tea was particularly spectacular and was enough to feed 4! The staff were lovely and very accommodating, especially the lady at Reception and William!

The hotels location overlooking the lake is truly out of this World with such a view it is truly memorable. The accommodation was exceptional with a front facing room overlooking the lake and mountains beyond for which we were blessed with clear skies and sunshine. The staff were very attentive and gave excellent service for which nothing seemed too much trouble. The food was truly some of the best I have had in my many travels and truly recommend it even for the experience. A very worthy establishment to visit and out thanks to all concerned.

The setting and ambience of the hotel was lovely as expected. The staff were very friendly and helpful, I was grateful to have my case carried up to the bedroom for me. Enjoyed the breakfast, good choice and the evening meal, beautifully cooked. Disappointed the soup was the same on both days of our 2 day stay. The homemade ice cream was special.

Stunning location, the drive up to the hotel is really magnificent as is the view from the terrace where we had a hot pot of coffee and then pre dinner drinks. The staff here are so friendly and welcoming, they couldn't do enough for us. As it was our Anniversary, we were given an upgrade to a 4 poster room on arrival and there was a card and a gorgeous box of chocolates in the room. Dinner was great and breakfast was exceptional - ordered at the table and served beautifully. The hotel is beautiful, luxurious and well cared for.

Breakfast was outstanding. So much choice. We ordered evening meals at The Grill as the food was so delicious and the service was excellent. Loved sitting by the fire and relaxing. The room was spacious with a beautiful bathroom and enormous bed.

Great location for both Windamere, Bowness, Ambleside and Grassmere. Very clean and staff friendly and accommodating. Although staff were covering several roles at one time.

A good (or even great) hotel stay is made of many things; comfort, facilities, location, ambience, food...but all those elements can be ruined if the staff aren't up to the job. The staff here are exceptional; friendly without being in-your-face, quietly efficient, able to deliver. As we walked in there was a beautiful welcoming fire burning in the hallway hearth, which, on a rainy Cumbrian day was just what we needed. Then of course there's the location; up a hill, with a lovely view of Lake Windermere; perfectly placed for all excursions. Three minutes away is the Windermere Jetty Museum, which runs lake trips from March on vintage steamboats, and has a cafe with a fantastic view and great food too, so if you want a cup of tea or something more substantial on your travels, make that a date, too. Do book breakfast at the Merewood, as there's a great choice and we tried a few of the options, all of which were lovely. So as you can guess, this is a two-thumbs-up recommendation.
